Degrees in Progress:

Ph.D. (Clinical-Developmental Psychology)
Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology

Degrees Completed:

BSc (Honours Psychology; McGill University);
MA (Clinical Developmental Psycholog; York University)

Main Project Topics:

Child pain; child pain coping; caregiver sensitivity; socioemotional outcomes

Project Interests:

My interest in pain research was piqued as an undergraduate student at McGill University. Through my research on catastrophic thinking and pain behaviours in couples, I became particularly interested in the influences of psychological and social factors on the experience of pain.

Subsequent research I conducted at BC Children's Hospital confirmed my passion for health-related research involving vulnerable pediatric populations. I became especially interested in the caregiver-infant relationship, particularly in distressing contexts.

My master's research on infant pain in the context of the caregiver-infant dyad allowed me to explore this interest directly. Specifically, I examined the roles of caregiver emotional availability and caregiver proximity on infant pain responding over the infant's first year of life. Building on this research, my doctoral research is examining the developmental predictors and socioemotional correlates of children's coping with pain at 4 and 5 years of age. I am also interested in the contributing role of caregiver sensitivity.
